Description
A simple yet flavorful dish combining tender beef and crisp broccoli in a savory sauce, perfect for a cherished family dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 pound of beef (flank steak or chuck roast)
- 3 cups of broccoli florets
- 4 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef: Slice the beef thinly against the grain. Combine with soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and black pepper. Marinate for 30 minutes.
- Heat Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
- Cook the Beef: Add the marinated beef in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, until browned. Remove the beef and set aside.
- Sauté the Broccoli: In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed and toss in the broccoli. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Combine: Return the beef to the pan and mix. Add any leftover marinade and stir well. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.
- Thicken the Sauce: If desired, mix cornstarch with a bit of water, then add to the pan to thicken the sauce. Stir until glossy and thick.
- Serve: Plate your beef and broccoli hot, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
For a saucier dish, increase the soy sauce and balance with sugar or honey for sweetness.
