Description

Indulge in a cozy and comforting Warm Apple Crisp Dessert recipe. Learn how to create this delicious treat that will satisfy your sweet cravings!

Ingredients

  • – 6 golden delicious apples, peeled and chopped (other varieties can be used, can also be sliced)
  • – 2 tbsp granulated sugar (30 ml)
  • – 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon (3.75 ml)
  • – 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice (7.5 ml)
  • – 1 cup light brown sugar (240 g)
  • – 3/4 cup old-fashioned oats (75 g) (quick oats can be used, but it may have a slightly different texture)
  • – 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (90 g)
  • – 1 tsp ground cinnamon (5 ml)
  • – pinch of salt
  • – 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, diced into small cubes (115 g)

Instructions

  1. Warm up your oven to 350°F. Grease an 8×8 baking dish with butter or coat it with a non-stick spray. Set it aside for later.
  2. Combine the apple pieces, granulated sugar, 3/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, and lemon juice in a bowl. Mix them well and then place this mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine the ingredients for the topping: brown sugar, oats, flour, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, a pinch of salt, and the small cubes of cold butter.
  4. Work the butter into the oat mixture using a pastry cutter, twisting it slightly downwards until you achieve a consistency that looks like small crumbs. Alternatively, you can use two forks or your hands to blend the butter into the mix.
  5. Evenly distribute the topping over the apples in the baking dish, pressing it down gently to level it out. Place in the oven and bake for 40-50 minutes until it turns golden brown and starts to bubble.
  6. Serve it warm. Enjoy it with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

  • Try using sliced apples for a different texture in the dish.
  • Use salted butter and reduce salt in topping to balance flavors.
  • Experiment with quick oats for varied crisp texture.
