Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup milk
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk until just combined.
- Fill cupcake liners about 2/3 full with batter and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
- For the buttercream frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and milk, mixing until desired consistency.
- Use food coloring to dye the frosting if desired, and pipe flowers onto the cooled cupcakes.
