Ingredients
- 454 g ground beef
- 720 ml cooked rice
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 orange bell pepper, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 480 ml tomato sauce
- 120 ml brown sugar
- 227 g shredded cheese
Instructions
- Set your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and let it preheat.
- Place a large skillet on the stove and heat it over medium-high. Crumble the ground beef into the skillet and cook, stirring, until it’s partially browned, which should take about 3 to 5 minutes. Add the chopped red, orange, and green bell peppers to the skillet and continue to cook and stir until the meat is fully browned, approximately 5 more minutes. Remove and discard any excess grease.
- In a separate bowl, combine the tomato sauce with the brown sugar, then pour this mixture over the beef and peppers. Add the cooked rice to the skillet and stir everything together thoroughly, then move the mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Evenly distribute the shredded cheese over the top.
- Place the baking dish into the preheated oven and bake until the cheese is melted and bubbling, which should take around 30 minutes. Allow the dish to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Consider using a blend of cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan cheeses for a flavorful topping.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a healthier alternative, maintaining great taste.
- Enhance the dish by sautéing diced onions or garlic for added depth of flavor.
