A delicious and nostalgic banana bread recipe made with ripe bananas, butter, and warming spices, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 3 to 4 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Prepare a 9×5-inch loaf pan by greasing it well or lining it with parchment paper.
- Mash the ripe bananas thoroughly in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix well.
- Mix in the sugar until smooth and slightly lighter in color.
- Crack in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, mixing just until the flour disappears.
- If using, fold in the nuts.
- Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
Notes
For best results, use super ripe bananas and avoid overmixing the batter.
