Description
A nostalgic dish featuring ground beef and zesty sauce on buttery Texas toast, topped with melted cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices Texas toast
- 4 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)
- Butter for spreading
Instructions
- Cook the ground beef and diced onion in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
- Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Butter one side of each slice of Texas toast.
- Toast the Texas toast, buttered side down, in a separate skillet until golden brown.
- Spoon the beef mixture onto the unbuttered side of two slices of Texas toast. Top with a slice of cheese and place another slice of toast on top, buttered side facing out.
- Grill the sandwiches until the cheese melts and the bread turns golden brown, flipping once.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Try adding cayenne pepper for some heat. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days.
