Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, egg, salt, pepper, allspice, and nutmeg. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add flour to the remaining drippings and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in the beef broth and bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the heavy cream and return the meatballs to the skillet.
- Simmer for 10-15 minutes until meatballs are cooked through and the gravy thickens.
- Serve warm.
Notes
For a lighter version, consider using lean ground beef. Experiment with the seasoning by adding fresh herbs like thyme or parsley.
