Description

Discover how to make a delicious Super Savory Garlic Chicken with Broccoli and Mushrooms over Rice. Perfect for a flavorful and satisfying meal!

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoon (10 ml) s vegetable oil
  • 1 pound (454 g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s cornstarch
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 teaspoon (10 ml) s minced fresh ginger
  • 4 medium garlic cloves
  • 3 cup (720 ml) s broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s water
  • 66666668653488 cup (160 ml) soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) oyster sauce
  • 25 cup (60 ml) brown sugar
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Start by assembling all the necessary items.
  2. In a large non-stick pan, warm the oil over medium-high heat until it starts to shimmer, which should take around 2 minutes. While waiting, combine the chicken and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch in a medium-sized bowl, ensuring the chicken is fully coated.
  3. Place the chicken in the pan in a single layer and cook, stirring frequently, until it is crispy and fully cooked, approximately 6 minutes. Add the onions and continue to cook, stirring often, until they become see-through, roughly 1 minute. Stir in the ginger and garlic, cooking continuously until they release their aroma, about 1 minute. Move the chicken mixture onto a plate and set it aside for later.
  4. Put the broccoli into the now-empty pan and cook over medium-high heat, stirring every so often, until it turns bright green and is heated throughout, which should take 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. In the meantime, whisk together the water, soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and the remaining 2 tablespoons of cornstarch in a small bowl until the mixture is smooth, approximately 30 seconds.
  6. Return the cooked chicken mixture to the pan with the broccoli, add the soy sauce blend and cook, stirring non-stop, until both the broccoli and chicken are well covered, and the sauce starts to thicken, around 2 minutes.
  7. Serve right away and enjoy your meal!

Notes

  • Marinate chicken in a soy sauce, ginger, and garlic mixture for added flavor before cooking.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce and reduce brown sugar for a healthier dish.
  • Enhance the dish by adding bell peppers or snap peas for extra nutrition.
