Ingredients
- 1 lemon cake (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup whipped cream cheese
- 1 cup whipped cream
- Optional: mint leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the lemon cake according to package instructions or your favorite recipe. Allow it to cool completely.
- In a bowl, toss the sliced strawberries with sugar and let them sit for about 10-15 minutes, until they release their juices.
- In another bowl, mix the whipped cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Fold in the whipped cream until well combined.
- Cut the lemon cake into small pieces or cubes.
- In a trifle bowl or individual cups, layer the ingredients: start with a layer of lemon cake, followed by the sugared strawberries, and then a layer of the whipped cream cheese mixture.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with the whipped cream layer on top.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Optionally, garnish with mint leaves before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can infuse the whipped cream cheese with vanilla or lemon zest. Consider adding crushed graham crackers for a crunchy texture.
