Description

Delicious and easy-to-make cake pops inspired by Starbucks, perfect for any celebration.

Ingredients

  • 13.25 oz store-bought vanilla cake mix
  • ⅓ cup neutral oil (vegetable, avocado, canola, etc.)
  • 1 cup milk or water
  • 4 large eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp milk (add more if needed)
  • 12 oz candy melts
  • White nonpareils or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325-350°F (162-175°C) and grease or line your baking pan.
  2. Combine all cake ingredients in a large bowl and stir until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake according to box instructions, checking for doneness 2-4 minutes prior to the suggested end time.
  4. Once baked, crumble the cake in a mixing bowl using a paddle attachment.
  5. In another bowl, mix buttercream ingredients until smooth, then combine with the crumbled cake.
  6. Roll the mixture into 1¼-inch balls and chill in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  7. Allow cake balls to return to room temperature for 10 minutes.
  8. Melt a small amount of candy melts in the microwave and dip the tip of each lollipop stick into the melted candy before inserting it halfway into the cake balls.
  9. Chill the cake pops again in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  10. Melt the remaining candy melts and dip each cake pop until fully coated, tapping to remove excess.
  11. Quickly decorate with sprinkles before the coating hardens.
  12. Use a styrofoam block to keep the finished cake pops upright as they dry.

Notes

Ensure the cake pops are cool before crumbling and check that the candy melts have the right consistency for coating.
