Description

A classic American sandwich with seasoned ground meat and a savory sauce, perfect for family gatherings and casual cookouts.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and brown the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  2. Once the meat is browned, drain excess fat. Add chopped onions, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook until soft.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Reduce heat and let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. While simmering, toast hamburger buns if desired.
  6. Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture generously onto the toasted buns.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, simmer longer to reduce liquid. Experiment with different bun types for added texture.
