Description
A classic American sandwich with seasoned ground meat and a savory sauce, perfect for family gatherings and casual cookouts.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and brown the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Once the meat is browned, drain excess fat. Add chopped onions, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook until soft.
- Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Reduce heat and let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- While simmering, toast hamburger buns if desired.
- Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture generously onto the toasted buns.
Notes
For a thicker sauce, simmer longer to reduce liquid. Experiment with different bun types for added texture.
