A comforting and hearty goulash recipe filled with elbow macaroni, ground beef, and flavorful spices, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. elbow macaroni
- 2 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 28 oz. tomato sauce
- 20 oz. diced tomatoes
- 2 tsp. oregano
- 1 tsp. basil
- 1/4 tsp. rosemary
- 1 tsp. parsley
- 1/4 tsp. thyme
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. paprika
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Bring a pot of water to a boil, and generously salt it.
- Add the elbow macaroni to the boiling water and cook for four minutes until slightly tender.
- After four minutes, drain the macaroni and set it aside.
- In a large skillet, combine the ground beef and diced onion. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently until the beef is browned and onions are soft.
- Add the minced garlic and Worcestershire sauce, stirring thoroughly.
- Pour in the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes, mixing everything well.
- Add the oregano, basil, rosemary, parsley, thyme, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir to integrate the spices fully.
- Incorporate the macaroni you set aside into the mixture. Reduce the heat and let everything simmer for 5-10 minutes until the pasta is al dente and the flavors meld together.
- If desired, stir in the cheddar cheese and allow it to melt before serving.
Notes
For additional texture, add bell peppers or other vegetables. Leftovers taste even better the next day.
