Description

A comforting and hearty goulash recipe filled with elbow macaroni, ground beef, and flavorful spices, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. elbow macaroni
  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 28 oz. tomato sauce
  • 20 oz. diced tomatoes
  • 2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1/4 tsp. rosemary
  • 1 tsp. parsley
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil, and generously salt it.
  2. Add the elbow macaroni to the boiling water and cook for four minutes until slightly tender.
  3. After four minutes, drain the macaroni and set it aside.
  4. In a large skillet, combine the ground beef and diced onion. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently until the beef is browned and onions are soft.
  5. Add the minced garlic and Worcestershire sauce, stirring thoroughly.
  6. Pour in the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes, mixing everything well.
  7. Add the oregano, basil, rosemary, parsley, thyme, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir to integrate the spices fully.
  8. Incorporate the macaroni you set aside into the mixture. Reduce the heat and let everything simmer for 5-10 minutes until the pasta is al dente and the flavors meld together.
  9. If desired, stir in the cheddar cheese and allow it to melt before serving.

Notes

For additional texture, add bell peppers or other vegetables. Leftovers taste even better the next day.
