Description
Delightful pastries made from puff pastry, filled with rich cheese and fragrant herbs, perfect for appetizers or casual snacks.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 1/2 cup grated cheese (Parmesan or Gruyère)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped herbs (parsley and thyme)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil or melted butter for brushing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until it reaches a uniform thickness.
- Evenly sprinkle the grated cheese and chopped herbs across the surface of the pastry. Season generously with salt and pepper.
- From one edge, roll the pastry tightly towards the center, creating a log shape. Repeat with the other edge, ensuring that both rolls meet in the middle.
- Wrap the rolled pastry in plastic wrap and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
- Once frozen, slice the log into 1/4-inch pieces and arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops with olive oil or melted butter.
- Bake the palmiers for 15-20 minutes or until they have puffed up and turned golden brown.
- Serve warm as appetizers.
Notes
Experiment with different herbs and cheeses to customize the flavor. Ensure the rolled pastry is tightly packed before freezing for best results.
