Description

Tender beef short ribs slow-cooked in a crock pot, imbued with rich flavors and aromas that evoke warmth and comfort, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs beef short ribs (bone-in)
  • 1 large onion (chopped)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 cups beef broth (or chicken broth)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Optional herbs (thyme, rosemary, smoked paprika)

Instructions

  1. Season the short ribs with salt and pepper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sear the ribs on all sides.
  3. Remove the ribs and place them in the crock pot.
  4. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, sauté until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and scrape the bottom of the pan for bits.
  6. Add BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar; stir to combine.
  7. Pour this mixture over the ribs in the crock pot.
  8. Set the crock pot to low and cook for 8 hours, or until the meat is tender.

Notes

For added depth of flavor, consider using a barbecue sauce without added sugars. Let the ribs rest after cooking for better juiciness.
