Ingredients
- 4 lbs beef short ribs (bone-in)
- 1 large onion (chopped)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 cups beef broth (or chicken broth)
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp pepper (adjust to taste)
- Optional herbs (thyme, rosemary, smoked paprika)
Instructions
- Season the short ribs with salt and pepper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sear the ribs on all sides.
- Remove the ribs and place them in the crock pot.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, sauté until fragrant.
- Pour in the beef broth and scrape the bottom of the pan for bits.
- Add BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar; stir to combine.
- Pour this mixture over the ribs in the crock pot.
- Set the crock pot to low and cook for 8 hours, or until the meat is tender.
Notes
For added depth of flavor, consider using a barbecue sauce without added sugars. Let the ribs rest after cooking for better juiciness.
