- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder

- 1¾ cups buttermilk
- 1 cup freshly grated sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Brown the ground sausage in a skillet over medium heat until golden.
- Drain excess grease and let the sausage cool slightly.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Remove the hot baking dish from the oven and let the butter melt.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Stir the buttermilk into the dry ingredients until just combined.
