Description

A delightful, fluffy focaccia bread that is easy to make and perfect for any meal or as a snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) of instant yeast
  • 1 ½ cups of warm water (about 110°F)
  • ¼ cup of extra virgin olive oil
  • Optional toppings: coarse sea salt, fresh rosemary, sliced olives, or cherry tomatoes

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. Gradually pour in the warm water and olive oil, stirring until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead it for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough back in the bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rest for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. Grease your baking pan generously with olive oil. Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down.
  7. Pour the dough into the prepared pan, stretching it to fit snugly. Dimple the surface using your fingers and drizzle with more olive oil.
  8. Add toppings of your choice, pressing them gently into the dough.
  9. Allow the focaccia to rest for an additional 20-30 minutes before placing it in the preheated oven.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Once baked, let it cool slightly in the pan before transferring it to a wire rack.

Notes

For the best flavor, use high-quality olive oil and fresh herbs. Allow sufficient rising time for a light and airy texture.
