Description
A delightful, fluffy focaccia bread that is easy to make and perfect for any meal or as a snack.
Ingredients
- 4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) of instant yeast
- 1 ½ cups of warm water (about 110°F)
- ¼ cup of extra virgin olive oil
- Optional toppings: coarse sea salt, fresh rosemary, sliced olives, or cherry tomatoes
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and instant yeast.
- Gradually pour in the warm water and olive oil, stirring until a sticky dough forms.
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead it for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough back in the bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rest for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Grease your baking pan generously with olive oil. Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down.
- Pour the dough into the prepared pan, stretching it to fit snugly. Dimple the surface using your fingers and drizzle with more olive oil.
- Add toppings of your choice, pressing them gently into the dough.
- Allow the focaccia to rest for an additional 20-30 minutes before placing it in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Once baked, let it cool slightly in the pan before transferring it to a wire rack.
Notes
For the best flavor, use high-quality olive oil and fresh herbs. Allow sufficient rising time for a light and airy texture.
