Description

A delightful and moist banana bread infused with rich chocolate, perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (100 g) brown sugar
  • ½ cup (115 g) melted butter or neutral oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup (60 g) sour cream or Greek yogurt (optional but recommended)
  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (45 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup (130 g) chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate
  • Optional: 1 banana sliced lengthwise, for topping
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon raw sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare the 9×5 loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas.
  3. Add both sugars, melted butter or oil, eggs, vanilla extract, and optional sour cream. Whisk until fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Avoid overmixing for the best texture.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips or chunks.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Add banana slices and sprinkle raw sugar on top if desired.
  8. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs clinging to it.
  9. Let it cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use overripe bananas for the best flavor and moisture. Let the bread cool completely before slicing for the best texture.
