Description
A delightful blueberry French toast casserole that brings family gatherings to life with its rich flavors and warm spices.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf of French bread
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
- Butter (for greasing)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
- Cut the French bread into cubes and layer half of them in the baking dish.
- Sprinkle half of the blueberries on top of the bread cubes.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well blended.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread and blueberries, then layer the remaining bread cubes and blueberries on top.
- Press down slightly to soak the bread in the egg mixture.
- Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and set.
- Serve warm, optionally drizzled with maple syrup or powdered sugar.
Notes
Use day-old bread for better absorption. You can also experiment with different berries or add nuts for variation.
