Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • Butter (for greasing)

Instructions

  2. Cut the French bread into cubes and layer half of them in the baking dish.

  4. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well blended.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and blueberries, then layer the remaining bread cubes and blueberries on top.
  6. Press down slightly to soak the bread in the egg mixture.
  7. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and set.
  9. Serve warm, optionally drizzled with maple syrup or powdered sugar.

Notes

Use day-old bread for better absorption. You can also experiment with different berries or add nuts for variation.
