A comforting blend of pizza flavors with hearty tater tots, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- Optional toppings: mini pepperoni, olives, bell peppers, green onions, mushrooms
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook the ground beef and diced onion in a large skillet over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes.
- Drain excess grease from the skillet.
- Add marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper back into the skillet; stir and simmer for a couple of minutes.
- Spread the beef and sauce mixture evenly in the greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over the beef mixture.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese and beef mixture.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheese on top of the tater tots.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
- Add optional toppings during the last few minutes of baking if desired.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with cooked lentils or mushrooms.
