Ingredients
- – 2 beef ribeye steaks (500g)
- – 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (15ml)
- – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) salt to taste
- – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper to taste
- – 4 hoagie rolls
- – 1 medium yellow onion thinly sliced
- – 4 slices Cheddar cheese or Mozzarella cheese or Cheddar cheese spread
Instructions
- Cut the ribeye steaks into very thin pieces. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Warm up the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Toss in the sliced onion and cook until they become tender, approximately 5-7 minutes. Take out the onions and set them aside. If skipping the onions, move to the next step.
- Place the steak slices in the pan in a single layer to brown for 1 to 2 minutes, then turn them over to brown the other side.
- Break up the steak with a spatula. Mix in the cooked onions (if using) and any other preferred extras.
- Lower the heat and cover the chopped steak with cheese. Allow it to melt, then place the mixture into a hoagie roll. Serve right away.
Notes
- Consider using a combination of Cheddar and Mozzarella cheese for a flavorful blend.
- Avoid overcrowding the pan when browning steak slices to ensure even cooking and a nice crust.
- Try adding sautéed bell peppers or mushrooms for extra texture and flavor in your cheesesteak.
