Description

Deliciously soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies that bring back childhood memories.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes with an electric mixer).
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, fully incorporating each before adding the next, and then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly without breaking them apart.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
  8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, until the edges are golden brown while centers remain soft.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For softer cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Use room temperature ingredients for best results.
