Deliciously soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies that bring back childhood memories.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes with an electric mixer).
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, fully incorporating each before adding the next, and then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Fold in the chocolate chips evenly without breaking them apart.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, until the edges are golden brown while centers remain soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For softer cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Use room temperature ingredients for best results.
