A comforting penne pasta recipe that brings family together with its rich flavors and delightful textures.
Ingredients
- 1 pound of penne pasta
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 can (28 ounces) of crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon of dried basil
- 1 teaspoon of oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions
- Start by boiling a large pot of salted water. Add the penne and cook according to package instructions, stirring occasionally.
- While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, making sure not to burn it.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, oregano, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the pasta is al dente, drain it, reserving a small cup of pasta water. Combine the penne with the tomato sauce and mix well, adding pasta water if needed to achieve your desired consistency.
- Serve immediately, garnishing with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
