Description

A comforting penne pasta recipe that brings family together with its rich flavors and delightful textures.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of penne pasta
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon of oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Start by boiling a large pot of salted water. Add the penne and cook according to package instructions, stirring occasionally.
  2. While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, making sure not to burn it.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, oregano, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Once the pasta is al dente, drain it, reserving a small cup of pasta water. Combine the penne with the tomato sauce and mix well, adding pasta water if needed to achieve your desired consistency.
  6. Serve immediately, garnishing with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
