Description

A warm, cheesy Penne Pasta Bake with rich flavors, perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ lb ground beef or Italian sausage (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp garlic powder or 2 fresh cloves (minced)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne and cook for 8-9 minutes until al dente. Drain and reserve about ½ cup of the pasta water.
  2. If adding meat, brown the ground beef or Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until no pink remains. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the drained penne, marinara sauce, cooked meat (if using), dried basil, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well, adjusting consistency with reserved pasta water if needed.
  4. Spread half of the pasta mixture in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and parmesan on top. Repeat with remaining pasta mixture and top with the rest of the cheeses.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until bubbling and golden brown. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Customize by adding vegetables or different cheeses for variety. Serve with a simple salad or garlic bread.
