Description
Delicious and healthy oven-baked cabbage burgers with a mix of flavors and nutritious ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Ground Beef or Turkey (or chicken or vegetarian alternative)
- 1 small head Cabbage (sliced into thick rounds)
- 1 medium Onion (finely chopped; shallots as alternative)
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced; or garlic powder)
- 1 tsp Salt (to taste)
- 1 tsp Black Pepper (to taste)
- 1 tsp Smoked Paprika (regular paprika can substitute)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce (or soy sauce)
- 1 large Egg (optional; flaxseed meal as vegan substitute)
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil (for brushing on cabbage)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the cabbage by slicing it into thick rounds. This will form the base of your burgers.
- Combine the ground beef or turkey, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and the egg (if using) in a large bowl. Mix everything well until evenly incorporated.
- Brush both sides of the cabbage rounds with olive oil, then place them on a baking sheet.
- Shape a portion of the meat mixture into a patty and place it on top of each cabbage round.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the meat is thoroughly cooked and the cabbage is tender and slightly crispy.
- Let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a vegan option, substitute the egg with flaxseed meal. Broil for an extra layer of crunch.
