Description

Delicious and healthy oven-baked cabbage burgers with a mix of flavors and nutritious ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef or Turkey (or chicken or vegetarian alternative)
  • 1 small head Cabbage (sliced into thick rounds)
  • 1 medium Onion (finely chopped; shallots as alternative)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced; or garlic powder)
  • 1 tsp Salt (to taste)
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika (regular paprika can substitute)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce (or soy sauce)
  • 1 large Egg (optional; flaxseed meal as vegan substitute)
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil (for brushing on cabbage)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the cabbage by slicing it into thick rounds. This will form the base of your burgers.
  3. Combine the ground beef or turkey, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and the egg (if using) in a large bowl. Mix everything well until evenly incorporated.
  4. Brush both sides of the cabbage rounds with olive oil, then place them on a baking sheet.
  5. Shape a portion of the meat mixture into a patty and place it on top of each cabbage round.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the meat is thoroughly cooked and the cabbage is tender and slightly crispy.
  7. Let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a vegan option, substitute the egg with flaxseed meal. Broil for an extra layer of crunch.
