Description

A tender and juicy oven-baked BBQ beef brisket with a flavorful spice rub, perfect for gatherings or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

  • 4 lb beef brisket (flat or whole packer cut)
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Trim the brisket to remove excess fat, leaving a thin layer for flavor.
  3. Combine the spices in a small bowl: smoked paprika, brown sugar, kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, and cayenne pepper.
  4. Rub the brisket generously with olive oil, then coat it with the spice mixture.
  5. Place the brisket in a large roasting pan, adding beef broth and apple cider vinegar to the bottom of the pan. Cover tightly with aluminum foil.
  6. Bake for about 4 to 5 hours or until tender.
  7. Remove from the oven, uncover, and brush BBQ sauce over the brisket, then drizzle with honey and Worcestershire sauce.
  8. Increase oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30 minutes, uncovered.
  9. Let the brisket rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For best flavor, marinate the brisket overnight in the spice rub. Always slice against the grain for tenderness.
