Ingredients
- 1 New York strip steak
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
Instructions
- Let the steak sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. Season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Heat olive oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil is hot, add the steak and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer for desired doneness.
- In the last minute of cooking, add butter, garlic, and herbs to the skillet. Spoon the melted butter over the steak.
- Remove the steak from the skillet, let it rest for 5 minutes, then slice and serve with the garlic herb butter drizzled over top.
Notes
For better flavor, consider adding a splash of lemon juice before serving. Let the steak rest after cooking for the best texture.
