Description
A flavorful and comforting dish of pasta with shrimp, garlic, and mushrooms, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces pasta (your choice: linguine, fettuccine)
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced (cremini or button mushrooms)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Extra Parmesan cheese (for serving)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta: Start by boiling a large pot of salted water. Add your chosen pasta and cook it according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving some pasta water if needed for the sauce.
- Prepare the shrimp and sauce: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about one minute. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until tender and browned. Introduce the shrimp and season with salt and pepper, cooking until the shrimp turn pink.
- Combine the ingredients: Pour the heavy cream into the skillet, stirring to combine with the shrimp and mushrooms. Add the cooked pasta, tossing everything to coat evenly. Slowly mix in the grated Parmesan cheese, allowing it to melt into the sauce. If the sauce appears too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water.
- Serve: Plate your mushroom garlic shrimp pasta and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve additional Parmesan cheese on the side for those who crave extra flavor.
Notes
Use freshly grated Parmesan for better texture and flavor. You can also add vegetables like spinach for extra nutrition.
