Ingredients
- 4 ripe bananas, peeled
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups (180 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) baking powder
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) salt
Instructions
- Begin by setting your oven to 350°F and lightly coating a 9×5-inch bread pan with butter or a spray for cooking.
- Using a fork, mash the bananas in a big bowl until they are smooth. Mix in the sugar, egg, vegetable oil, and vanilla essence.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt by whisking them together.
- Combine the dry mixture with the banana mixture, stirring just until everything is blended.
- Transfer the batter into the greased pan. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out without batter.
- Take the loaf out of the oven and allow it to cool in the pan briefly. Then, remove it from the pan and let it cool fully before cutting and serving.
Notes
- Make sure the bananas are fully ripe to enhance the flavor and sweetness of the banana bread.
- Mix the batter gently to avoid toughening the loaf from overmixing.
- Enhance the bread by adding nuts, chocolate chips, or dried fruit to the batter before baking for extra texture and flavor.
