Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about ten minutes until foamy.
- Combine flour and salt in a large bowl. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and oil.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead for about ten minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for one hour until doubled.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls. Shape into rolls and place on a baking sheet.
- Score the top of each roll with a sharp knife.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
For a shinier crust, brush the rolls with an egg wash before baking.
