Ingredients
- – 1 pound (454 g) ground beef
- – 3 tablespoons (45 ml) maple syrup
- – 1 ½ teaspoons (7.5 ml) salt
- – ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) black pepper
- – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) ground sage
- – ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) ground thyme
- – ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) paprika
- – ¼ teaspoon (1.25 ml) ground nutmeg
- – ¼ teaspoon (1.25 ml) garlic powder
- – ⅛ teaspoon (0.6 ml) red pepper flakes (optional)
- – vegetable oil for cooking
Instructions
- Place all the components into a large bowl. Mix them thoroughly using your hands until everything is well integrated. Ideally, cover the mixture and let it chill in the fridge for at least an hour or overnight before proceeding to cook.
- Warm up a big frying pan over medium heat with a splash of vegetable oil. Form the mixture into 10-15 small discs, each about a quarter-inch thick.
- Cook the patties in batches, allowing them to brown nicely and cook completely by frying each side for 2-3 minutes. If you have a meat thermometer, ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Notes
- Consider adding a bit more maple syrup to enhance the sweet flavor of the beef patties.
- Experiment with various herbs and spices, like a hint of cayenne pepper, to tailor the taste to your preference.
- To ensure juicier patties, mix in grated onion or breadcrumbs for added moisture during cooking.
