Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef (454 g)
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) sweet onion, diced
- 2 stalks celery, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp (5 ml) Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp (3 ml) salt
- 1/2 tsp (3 ml) black pepper
- 15 oz (425 g) can diced tomatoes with juice
- 8 oz (227 g) can tomato sauce
- 5 cups (1.2 L) beef broth
- 1 cup (150 g) fresh green beans, cut in 1″ pieces
Instructions
- In a large pot of 5-6 quarts, brown the ground beef along with the diced onion and sliced celery over medium-high heat. Remove any excess fat.
- Incorporate the minced garlic and sauté for approximately one minute.
- Stir in the Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, canned diced tomatoes with their juice, tomato sauce, and beef broth. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer without a lid for 10-15 minutes.
- Introduce the cut green beans and continue cooking for an additional 10 minutes or until the green beans reach desired tenderness.
- Optionally, top with shredded cheese before serving.
