Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef (454 g)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) sweet onion, diced
  • 2 stalks celery, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp (3 ml) salt
  • 1/2 tsp (3 ml) black pepper
  • 15 oz (425 g) can diced tomatoes with juice
  • 8 oz (227 g) can tomato sauce
  • 5 cups (1.2 L) beef broth
  • 1 cup (150 g) fresh green beans, cut in 1″ pieces


Instructions

  1. In a large pot of 5-6 quarts, brown the ground beef along with the diced onion and sliced celery over medium-high heat. Remove any excess fat.
  2. Incorporate the minced garlic and sauté for approximately one minute.
  3. Stir in the Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, canned diced tomatoes with their juice, tomato sauce, and beef broth. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer without a lid for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Introduce the cut green beans and continue cooking for an additional 10 minutes or until the green beans reach desired tenderness.
  5. Optionally, top with shredded cheese before serving.

  • Consider using fire-roasted diced tomatoes or a splash of for a richer flavor.
