Description

Delightful French toast cups, perfect for cozy mornings and gatherings, with a rich blend of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Brioche or Challah Bread (or thick-cut white or cinnamon raisin bread)
  • 4 large Eggs (or flax or chia seeds for a vegan alternative)
  • 1 cup Whole Milk (or almond, oat, or soy milk for dairy-free)
  • 1/2 cup Sugar (adjust to taste or use a sugar substitute)
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract (homemade delivers a special touch)
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg (freshly grated enhances the flavor)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt (balances sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and grease a muffin tin.
  2. Cut the loaf of bread into cubes or bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until fully combined.
  4. Stir in the sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Add the bread cubes to the egg mixture, tossing gently until they soak up the custard.
  6. Spoon the mixture into each muffin cup, filling them about three-quarters full.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the custard is set.
  8. Allow the cups to cool slightly, then gently run a knife around the edges to loosen them before removing them from the tin.

Notes

Serve warm with powdered sugar or maple syrup for an extra touch. Pair with fresh fruit for a balanced breakfast.
