Ingredients
- 454 g large raw shrimp (16-20 count), peeled and deveined
- 15 ml minced fresh garlic
- 30 ml honey
- 5 ml freshly grated ginger
- 15 ml soy sauce, or more to taste
- 5 ml fish sauce, or to taste
- 10 ml vegetable oil
- 240 ml thinly sliced green onion, or to taste
Instructions
- Ensure the shrimp are fully defrosted and thoroughly drained. Store them in the fridge while you prepare the marinade.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the garlic, honey, ginger, soy sauce, and fish sauce, and whisk together.
- Add the shrimp to the bowl and use a spatula to mix well for 2 minutes until they are evenly covered. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the shrimp marinate in the fridge for 30 to 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Coat a large nonstick skillet with oil and heat it on high until faint smoke appears. Quickly place the shrimp in the hot skillet in one layer using tongs, keeping the leftover marinade aside.
- Cook the shrimp for 2 minutes, then turn them over. Pour in the reserved marinade and cook for an additional minute. Turn off the heat, flip the shrimp once more, and allow them to rest for about 1 minute. The marinade will thicken into a glaze from the remaining heat in the pan. Top with green onion as a garnish.
Notes
- Pat the shrimp dry before marinating for a better coating.
- Adjust soy sauce and fish sauce to taste for a personalized flavor.
- Avoid overcrowding the skillet when cooking shrimp to ensure even cooking and a nice sear.
