Ingredients
- – 500g / 1 lb chicken breast, boneless and skinless (2 pieces)
- – Salt and pepper
- – 1/4 cup flour (60 ml)
- – 3 1/2 tbsp (50g) unsalted butter (or 2 1/2 tbsp olive oil)
- – 2 garlic cloves, minced
- – 1 1/2 tbsp (23 ml) apple cider vinegar (or white or other clear vinegar)
- – 1 tbsp (15 ml) soy sauce, light or all purpose
- – 1/3 cup honey (80 ml)
Instructions
- Slice the chicken breasts horizontally to form four fillets. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Spread flour in a shallow bowl. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour, shaking off the excess.
- Heat most of the butter in a large frying pan over high heat, reserving about a teaspoon for later use.
- Place the chicken in the pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until it turns golden brown. Flip and cook the opposite side for an additional minute.
- Reduce the heat slightly to medium-high.
- Create a small space in the pan, add the garlic, and top with the remaining butter. Stir the garlic briefly once the butter has melted.
- Pour in the vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Stir or shake the pan to mix everything. Let the sauce come to a simmer and cook for about 1 minute until it thickens a bit.
- Turn the chicken pieces to ensure they are fully coated in the sauce. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a bit of water and stir.
- Immediately remove from heat. Serve the chicken on plates and pour the remaining sauce over the top.
Notes
- For a healthier option, use olive oil instead of butter.
- Enhance the flavor by swapping apple cider vinegar with balsamic vinegar.
- Adjust the sweetness level to your liking by adding more or less honey.
