Ingredients

  • 1 (796 ml) can whole tomatoes
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) vegetable oil, plus more for drizzling
  • 2 small garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp (3 ml) sea salt
  • Cornmeal, for stretching the dough
  • 1 lb (454 g) Pizza Dough, store-bought or homemade
  • 8 oz (227 g) beef cheese, torn or thinly sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Red pepper flakes, for sprinkling


Instructions

  1. Set the oven to a temperature of 500°F.
  2. Combine the tomatoes along with their liquid, vegetable oil, garlic, and sea salt in a food processor. Blend until you achieve a smooth consistency.
  3. Sprinkle cornmeal onto a baking tray. Place the pizza dough on the tray and shape it into a large oval.
  4. Generously spread about ½ cup of the tomato mixture over the dough, ensuring to leave a 1-inch border around the perimeter.
  5. Layer the torn or sliced beef cheese on top, then place the pizza in the preheated oven. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  6. Once baked, take it out of the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. Finish with a drizzle of vegetable oil before serving.
