Ingredients
- 1 (796 ml) can whole tomatoes
- 2 tsp (10 ml) vegetable oil, plus more for drizzling
- 2 small garlic cloves
- 1/2 tsp (3 ml) sea salt
- Cornmeal, for stretching the dough
- 1 lb (454 g) Pizza Dough, store-bought or homemade
- 8 oz (227 g) beef cheese, torn or thinly sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- Red pepper flakes, for sprinkling
Instructions
- Set the oven to a temperature of 500°F.
- Combine the tomatoes along with their liquid, vegetable oil, garlic, and sea salt in a food processor. Blend until you achieve a smooth consistency.
- Sprinkle cornmeal onto a baking tray. Place the pizza dough on the tray and shape it into a large oval.
- Generously spread about ½ cup of the tomato mixture over the dough, ensuring to leave a 1-inch border around the perimeter.
- Layer the torn or sliced beef cheese on top, then place the pizza in the preheated oven. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Once baked, take it out of the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. Finish with a drizzle of vegetable oil before serving.
Notes
- Enhance the tomato sauce with a touch of dried oregano or a splash of balsamic vinegar.
- Evenly spread the beef cheese on the pizza for a consistently cheesy and flavorful experience.
- Get creative with cheeses like mozzarella or cheddar to elevate the taste of your pizza.
