Description

Warm, flaky homemade buttermilk biscuits that evoke memories of family gatherings, perfect for breakfast or dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • Honey, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together.
  6. Pat the dough to about 1-inch thick and cut out biscuits with a cutter.
  7. Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden.
  8. Brush with honey butter before serving.

Notes

Use cold ingredients to ensure proper rising and flakiness. Avoid twisting the cutter when cutting out biscuits.
