Description

Learn how to make delicious homemade beef tacos from scratch with this easy-to-follow recipe. Perfect for Taco Tuesday or any day of the week!

Ingredients

  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
  • – 1 pound (454 g) lean ground beef
  • – 2 teaspoons (10 ml) chili powder
  • – 2 teaspoons (10 ml) cumin
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) oregano
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) garlic powder
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) salt
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) black pepper
  • – 2 tablespoons (30 ml) tomato paste
  • – 1/2 cup (120 ml) water
  • – 8 Corn or flour tortillas
  • – Lettuce finely chopped
  • – Shredded Mexican cheese blend or cheddar cheese
  • – Tomatoes chopped
  • – Red onions chopped

Instructions

  1. Warm the olive oil in a skillet on medium-high heat. Introduce the ground beef and cook until it turns brown, approximately 5-7 minutes, then remove any excess fat.
  2. Incorporate the chili powder, cumin, oregano, garlic powder, salt, pepper, tomato paste, and water. Mix thoroughly and continue simmering on medium-low heat until the mixture thickens, roughly 3-5 minutes.
  3. Serve the mixture hot on tortillas and garnish with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and red onions, or any other toppings you prefer.

Notes

  • Consider using ground turkey or chicken instead of beef for a healthier, lean protein option. Try different cheeses like queso fresco or cotija for a unique flavor twist. Add a splash of fresh lime juice to the tacos for a burst of flavor and acidity.
