Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup minced onion
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
- 3 tablespoons BBQ sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 12 pack Hawaiian rolls
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4-5 tablespoons mayonnaise or room-temperature butter
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 20 pickle rounds
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- In a large nonstick skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, seasoning it with salt and pepper.
- Drain the grease, reserving 1 tablespoon in the skillet, and place the cooked beef in a bowl.
- Return the skillet to heat. Add minced onion and cook until they develop a little color.
- Add the onions to the bowl with the beef.
- Stir in the ketchup and BBQ sauce, mixing until combined.
- Add the shredded cheddar cheese, mixing until fully incorporated.
- Unpackage the Hawaiian rolls, keeping them connected, and split them in half horizontally.
- Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise or butter on both sides of the rolls.
- Layer the American cheese slices on the bottom half of the rolls.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly over the cheese, then drizzle yellow mustard on top.
- Arrange the pickle rounds over the beef mixture, then add the tops of the rolls.
- Brush melted butter on top and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until cheese melts and the tops toast.
- Slice through the creases using a serrated knife and transfer to a serving platter.
Notes
Feel free to customize toppings, such as avocado or jalapeños, for a personal touch.
