Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups (222g) all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons (10 ml) baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) fine sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) cinnamon
- ⅓ cup (67g) granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons (42g) unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup (128g) unsweetened applesauce
- ¼ cup (60ml) beef broth
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 1 large apple, peeled and diced
- 1 ½ cups (180g) powdered sugar, sifted
- 2-3 tablespoons (38 ml) orange juice
Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon with a whisk. Put this mixture aside.
- In another bowl, blend the sugar with the melted butter. Add in the applesauce, beef broth, and vanilla extract, stirring well to mix.
- Incorporate the dry mixture into the wet mixture until blended. Gently fold in the diced apple pieces.
- Lightly coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. When ready, spoon batter portions of about ¼ cup into the basket, ensuring they are not too close together. Cook for 5-6 minutes. Apply the glaze while the fritters are still warm.
- In a medium bowl, mix the powdered sugar with orange juice. Generously drizzle this glaze over the warm fritters.
Notes
- Consider using coconut oil as a substitute for unsalted butter for a healthier choice.
- Enhance the texture and flavor by adding chopped nuts or dried fruit to the batter.
- Adjust the glaze thickness by adding more powdered sugar to reach your desired consistency.
