Ingredients
- – 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vegetable oil
- – 4 tablespoons (60 g) beef tallow
- – 4-5 cloves garlic, minced
- – 1 1/4 pounds (570 g) shrimp, shelled with tails on or off
- – 1 pinch salt, to taste
- – 1 pinch cracked pepper, to taste
- – 1/4 cup (60 ml) apple juice or broth
- – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) red pepper flakes, crushed, or to taste – optional
- – 2 tablespoons (30 ml) lemon juice
- – 1/4 cup (15 g) fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Warm up the vegetable oil and half of the beef tallow in a large skillet or pan.
- Introduce the minced garlic and cook until aromatic (approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute).
- Place the shrimp into the pan, sprinkle with salt and pepper to your liking, and cook for 1-2 minutes on one side until they start to change to a pink hue, then turn them over.
- Add the apple juice or broth, and if desired, the crushed red pepper flakes. Allow it to gently bubble for 1-2 minutes or until the liquid reduces by roughly half and the shrimp are fully cooked (be careful not to overcook them).
- Mix in the remaining beef tallow, lemon juice, and chopped parsley, then promptly remove from heat.
- Pair with your choice of rice, pasta, garlic bread, or steamed veggies like cauliflower, broccoli, or zucchini noodles.
Notes
- For a more indulgent taste, try using beef broth in place of apple juice.
- Adjust the red pepper flakes to your desired level of spiciness.
- Ensure the shrimp are not overcooked to maintain their tender texture.
