Description

Discover how to make delicious Fresh Turkey Lettuce Wraps with our easy-to-follow recipe. Perfect for a healthy and flavorful meal option!

Ingredients

  • – 1¼ lb. (567 g) lean ground beef, or ground chicken
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil
  • – 1 clove garlic, minced
  • – 1/8 teaspoon (0.5 ml) ground ginger
  • – 4 green onions, thinly sliced
  • – 1 8 oz (227 g) can sliced water chestnuts, drained and coarsely chopped
  • – 3 tablespoons (45 ml) hoisin sauce
  • – 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) rice vinegar
  • – 2 teaspoons (10 ml) roasted red chili paste
  • – Pinch of salt
  • – 12 Bibb/Butter lettuce leaves

Instructions

  1. Warm the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium to high heat. Introduce the beef, minced garlic, and ground ginger into the pan, cooking for roughly 6 minutes until the beef is browned and crumbled.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the beef mixture with sliced green onions and chopped water chestnuts, ensuring everything is well mixed, then set it aside.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and roasted red chili paste, then pour this mixture over the beef mixture, tossing everything until it is thoroughly coated.
  4. Spoon approximately ¼ cup of the beef mixture onto each lettuce leaf, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Consider using ground chicken in place of ground beef for a lighter meal option.
  • Enhance the beef mixture with a touch of fresh lime juice for a zesty citrus twist.
  • Top the lettuce wraps with chopped peanuts or sesame seeds for an extra burst of texture.
