Description

These French onion meatballs combine the comforting flavors of classic French onion soup with hearty meatballs, topped with melted Gruyere cheese in a creamy sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup finely chopped onions
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onions, garlic, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into small meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through.
  5. In a saucepan, heat the beef broth and heavy cream over medium heat. Stir to combine.
  6. Add the baked meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle Gruyere cheese on top and allow it to melt before serving.

Notes

Consider sautéing the onions and garlic before mixing them for added flavor. Adjust cream and broth for desired creaminess.
