Description

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Sprinkles (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with milk, until smooth.
  6. Evenly divide the cupcake batter into the prepared cupcake pan, filling each cup about 2/3 full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow cupcakes to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. While the cupcakes cool, prepare the frosting by creaming the softened butter with powdered sugar and cocoa powder. Gradually add the milk until you reach the desired consistency.
  10. Divide the frosting into separate bowls and tint with food coloring. Pipe onto cupcakes in decorative flower shapes.
  11. Add sprinkles for a touch of flair, if desired.
