Description
Indulge in the joy of cookie dough without the worry of raw eggs or uncooked flour. This Edible Cookie Dough is a nostalgic treat that brings family and friends together.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened to room temperature)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
- 3 tablespoons whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour (must be heat-treated)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips (a mix of mini and regular)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Spread the flour evenly on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, stirring halfway through for even cooking. Let it cool completely when done. Alternatively, microwave the flour in a bowl for 60 seconds, stirring every 20 seconds until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Use an electric mixer on medium speed and cream them together for approximately 2-3 minutes until the mixture appears light and fluffy.
- Pour in the whole milk and pure vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix on low speed until just combined.
- Gradually add the cooled, heat-treated flour and salt. Continue mixing on low speed until the ingredients combine well. The dough should have a classic cookie dough consistency.
- Using a wooden spoon or spatula, gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- You can enjoy this cookie dough straight from the bowl, or refrigerate it in an airtight container for up to a week. Allow it to come to room temperature before scooping for easier handling.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using brown butter or adding a pinch of sea salt. This recipe allows for customization with mix-ins like crushed nuts or toffee bits.
