Delightful and healthy banana bread made with ripe bananas, whole wheat flour, and no added sugar, perfect for any time of the day.
Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup honey or a sugar-free sweetener
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts or sugar-free chocolate chips (optional)
- 2 eggs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
- Mix in the applesauce, honey or sweetener, and eggs until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in nuts or chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Utilizing ripe bananas is crucial; the more spots they have, the sweeter the bread turns out. Consider adding nut butter or experimenting with additional spices.
