Description
A simple yet effective method to cook NY strip filets that results in flavorful and tender steak.
Ingredients
- 2 steak filets (NY strip)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 6 cloves of garlic
- 6 sprigs of thyme
Instructions
- Let the steak come to room temperature for about 20 minutes.
- Pat the steak dry with paper towels.
- Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- Heat your skillet over medium heat.
- Once the pan is hot, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
- Place the steak in the skillet and cook for 2 minutes.
- Flip the steak and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Flip the steak again and reduce the heat to low.
- Add butter, garlic, and thyme to the skillet.
- Baste the steak for an additional 4 minutes.
- Remove the steak at your desired doneness. Let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Use a meat thermometer for precise doneness and remember to let the steak rest after cooking.
