Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons hot water
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl until smooth and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Dissolve baking soda in hot water and add it to the mixture along with the salt.
- Gradually stir in the flour until blended.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them generously.
- Bake in preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
Notes
For thicker cookies, chill the dough before baking. Rotate baking sheets halfway through for even cooking.
