Description
A simplified and delicious crockpot version of a classic lasagna, perfect for busy lifestyles but packed with flavor.
Ingredients
- Cooking spray
- 1 lb extra-lean ground beef
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 2 (650 mL) jars of tomato sauce
- 1 lb lasagna noodles (uncooked)
- 1 (475 g) tub of ricotta cheese
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup water
- Chopped fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large frying pan, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. When nearly cooked, add in the diced onions, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir well, allowing the flavors to meld, and add in one jar of tomato sauce. Mix thoroughly.
- Spray your slow cooker with cooking spray for easy removal of lasagna.
- Start layering in your slow cooker; begin with a small amount of meat sauce to coat the bottom, then lay down uncooked lasagna noodles.
- Add dollops of ricotta cheese and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese atop the noodles, followed by more meat sauce.
- Continue layering until you reach the top of the slow cooker—usually completing three layers in total.
- Pour the second jar of tomato sauce over the last noodle layer and liberally top with mozzarella cheese. Pour 1/2 cup water on the sides of the cooker.
- Cook on high for three hours or low for six hours.
- When finished, garnish with chopped fresh basil or parsley. Serve and enjoy!
