Description
A comforting dish featuring tender cube steak simmered in rich gravy, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 4 cube steaks
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Season the cube steaks with salt and pepper. Dredge them in flour, shaking off the excess.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the cube steaks and brown them on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add sliced onions and mushrooms; sauté until soft.
- Stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Return the cube steaks to the skillet, cover and cook on low heat for about 1 hour or until the meat is tender. Serve over mashed potatoes or rice.
Notes
Let the meat rest after browning for better flavor retention. Consider additional seasonings and herbs for enhanced taste.
