Description

Delightful crispy rice bites made from short-grain sushi rice, perfect for sharing and topped with your favorites.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups short-grain sushi rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Oil for frying
  • Toppings of your choice (e.g., avocado, fish, vegetables)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, combine the rice, water, and salt; bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 18 minutes until water is absorbed.
  4. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  5. Once cool, mix in soy sauce.
  6. Shape the rice into small, compact squares or rounds.
  7. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  8. Fry the rice cakes until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  9. Drain on paper towels and serve with your favorite sushi toppings.

Notes

Patience is key when frying; allow each cake sufficient time to achieve a light golden color before flipping.
